PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
Can someone help me remove the Firefox FDM plugin? I uninstalled FDM from my computer but the plugin is still showing up in Firefox and there is no Remove button and just grayed out showing it is disabled.
The reason I'm trying to uninstall FDM is because it stopped working in Firefox for some reason and may be corrupt. Uninstalling and reinstalling won't work either. FDM won't pick up the files that I try downloading.
Thanks

Please follow these steps:Guest wrote:I don't know when it started happening. but just installed ff45.0,2esr, fdm397 with plugin 2.14 and not working at all.
That fatal error with browser helper unexpected shutdown occurs :\
1) Update to the latest version of Firefox 47.0;
2) Update the FDM extension ;
3) Disable the monitoring of Firefox in the FDM settings;
4) Restart Firefox and make sure that there is no FDM extension;
5) Switch on the monitoring of Firefox in the FDM settings;
6) Restart Firefox. When you'll restart, it will prompt to install the 2.1.11 extension version.
Hope this helps,
Clive

Unfortunately, this procedure has not solved the problem. Any ideas for a different solution?

Could you kindly:
1) Indicate the OS you're running;
2) Please check if there is the FdmBrowserHelper.exe file in the FDM folder.

Regarding history, I have set FDM to not save history or logs... 60gig+ free on the hdd also
My ISP does not throttle or limit me yet + it would not discount that I can close a groggy FDM and load firefox inbuilt downloader which goes at full speed bandwidth straight away on the same file
In related issues I have been advized to clear cache and cookies, which made distinct differences at the time. Never suspected that.
Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
I am not entirely convinced it is FDM. Been using FF and FDM for maybe more than a decade. From the start this FF issue came along, while I used Flashgot as go between. Then from FF12 there were problems with Flash not loading or syncing or some Youtube issue. Tried many things, no joy, this lasted to about FF29. Excepting the update Issue, FDM sailed along nicely.
Finally beaten, I looked for another browser and found Seamonkey, which is where FF started. If I remember correctly, FF forked off from Netscape to split FF and Thunderbird. Later FF would not open links after clicking on them in TB. Re-installing, nothing, solved this.
Seamonkey still has the browser, email, webpage Composer and Chatzilla bundled in one app. This was on a tower PC. Coming to think of it, the difference is huge.
Then I bought a Lenovo laptop and installed everything the same way. Again all went sailing until lightning hit the LT. The screen was damaged, not the mother board. Weird. Repaired it, Windows 8 re-installed, all apps in again. Same mother board, so there should not be any issues there.
Now I cannot get the SM-Flashgot-FDM linkage set up. All my downloads are done by Browser (built-in).
I want to strip/re-install Seamonkey and the others. Is there any specific sequence in which I must do this? It seemed so from the issues I had with Firefox.

Thank you for the feature suggestion, it’s been added to our to-do list.

Clive,
I have done exactly that and don't get enabled options like the old versions. ie: download all - download with freedownloadmanager.
Windows 10
FF 47.0.1
Has this changed?

Hey Clive,
So sorry for the delayed response. I'm on Windows 10 Pro, Firefox 48.0, FDM 3.9.7 build 1627, Firefox plugin 2.1.11. I get this message whenever Firefox starts up.
Which directory do I search on Windows 10? Sorry, it used to be much easier to remember in XP
Eric Draven
EDIT:
If FDMBrowserHelper.exe is missing, where do I get it?

Clive,
Don't bother. I got it all sorted out. Reinstalled FDM and after a few enablements of the extension and a few restarts, I have it all running now. Thanks!

Has this changed?
1) Could you indicate whether you have found FdmBrowserHelper.exe file or not?
2) Is there in the Task Manager a process with the same name when Firefox is running and the extension is switched on?
3) Which version of the extension do you have in Firefox?
Nothing has changed in the context menu, but it displays a different set of FDM options depending on the page where it is called.

Clive
