Turn off Seeding Permanently

Postby Badr » Tue Jul 02, 2019 8:01 am

Hello! This is my first feature request!
My request is why there is no option to disable uploading? I have a limited internet bundle and for that reason, I won't be able to seed/upload after downloading a specific torrent file, I know there is an option to turn off seeding but it's temporarily and specifically you're turning it off for the file you're downloading at the moment, and usually I download big files through night and sleep, so most of the times I will forget to turn off seeding.
Sorry for taking long, I hope you consider my request.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
FDM6 has the option to specify global upload ratio limit.

I know that, I am asking to disable it completely, or adjusting it to 0 which is not allowed.

Well, you can set it to 1%. I don't think this will not be enough for you...

Is there not a way to disable seeding? I can download, but I'm not really allowed to upload. I need to turn it off completely, else I'll have to use some other torrent manager.

Well, looks like not currently, but it's a thought for the future.

I need to disable torrent completely. It interferes with VPN. It wont enable.

In earlier versions of FDM, you could install the software with or without torrent support. This is apparently gone now. I need to disable torrent. It is necessary. please advise.

Hello,
In FDM6, you can just delete downloadsbt.dll file in its folder to disable torrent functional completely. But, it will not be active anyway if you have no torrents in the list of your downloads.

You can limit the upload speed to e.g. 100 b/s. But this can prevent you from downloading in some cases.

I have the same issue, as many users worldwide, I think.
The problem is that due to company security settings its not possible to install any Torrent client, its automatically disabled. FDM is still possible to use, but it performs outbound connections during torrent upload, which causes security alarms and subsequent security administrator questions :(
Can you please implement setting of upload speed to 0 meaning complete disabling of upload connections creation? It will make FDM invisible for office security and still letting downloads. I know, its not good for torrents lifetime, but using corporate computer I have no options :(
