I think you meant that you can't understand the purpose of this early release. Well, the reasons are:
1. To let our users know that we do our best in making FDM better.
2. To let our users help us in early testing of our the new app and also get feedback from them.

Yes.
johnlgalt wrote:is there a working set of features that you're (currently) planning on incorporating?

All I can say for now, is that the next update should (at minimum) bring Torrents support, "Use server time for file creaion" setting.
johnlgalt wrote:3) Are you going to start a new 'Vote for FDM 6 Features" thread

We have no plans for this currently.

Thanks for the heads up. Since it can run concurrently, I'll give it a whirl.

Still the issue with Chrome's download option if I'm not quick enough. Having this problem for months, still no fix.

After adding the download file, it hangs in the queue.

Follow the reporting rules and provide more details, please.

1. After adding the download file, it hangs in the queue and i have to click on pause and click again on resume to start the download.
2. When a browser catches the download and transfers it to FDM.
3. That the download starts right away, like FDM 5 or 3.X.
4. Windows 10 Pro x64 version 1809 (compilation 17763.194). I use Firefox x64 64.0, Opera x64 57.0.3098.102 and Chrome x64 71.0.3578.80, and all of them have the same issue.
5. FDM 6.0.0.840
6. It hangs with all the downloads doesn't matter what server, protocol or filetype (tried with .exe, .msi, .mp3., .m4a, .zip, .rar, .7zip, .mkv). I don't have any antivirus.

Edit #1, added missing information.

What Windows build? What versions and bitness of browsers? What file types?
It's completely new program so any smallest detail may be helpful for the start.

Sounds like FDM thinks that you have no Internet connection. That's why it does not start downloads automatically and wait for the connection to appear. The appropriate indication should be added in the next version.

Found another bug, the FDM window sometimes gets out of the screen border (usually to the right of my main monitor) and i have to use key combination Alt + Space to move the window to the visible area screen.

I have a two monitor configuration. My main is a Samsung Syncmaster P2370HD 23" 1980x1050 and the other one is a Samsung Syncmaster 2043NWX 20" 1680x1050.

Re: FDM 6.0 ALPHA

@Alex / Devs,

I had previously asked if FDM 6 Alpha was SxS compatible with FDM 5 - I should probably have asked if it s was specifically SxS compatible with FDM 5.1.34.6924, as I keep myself on that version until the server timestamp issue is resolved.

Last time I checked, they would not work together, with one or the other taking precedent instead of allowing me control.

I do want to test it, particularly since I use Nightly builds of Firefox as a daily driver for browser software (so, I'm pretty much testing Nightly Firefox builds all the time), as well as with Chrome stable, Chrome Canary builds, and occasionally Micro$oft's Edge browser.

Can you confirm that 6.0 and 5.1.34.6924 are side by side compatible, in that I can either:

1) Pick which version I want to use manually, or

2) Have certain versions associated with certain browsers only (so I can keep using 6924 with, say, Nightly, since I use that for the majority of my file downloads, and maybe use 6.0 with Chrome / Edge)?

Thanks.

I have a clean install of Windows from a month ago now, having gone through 3 new Insider Preview build updates, and I am happy to submit logs / data showing how they aren't working here side by side if need be.

Hello,
Sorry, FDM6 automatically makes sure (at startup) that all the browser integration components are installed and registered to it. This helps to enable monitoring in browsers without the need to restart them.
But yes, this interferes with another versions of FDM. There is no options to choose between FDM5/FDM6.
